A man once said "God, my life is your gift to me, and what I do with it is my gift to you" Very true words, as I was awakened this morning to a phone call to be told of the passing of Alturo Shelton (Parker).
Some of you may have known or worked with Alturo and just know how witty and talented of a man he was. For those of you who did not have the chance to work with him, well you missed out on working with a very talented human being. So, let me tell you a little about what I know about this gentleman. He was a loving husband and father of two. Worked the cruise lines mostly and did some local entertainment to bridge the gaps when in dry dock.
Alturo was more of a vocal impressionist and comic, he performed Sammy Davis, Stevie Wonder and one of my all time favorites was James Brown working at a Dunkin Donuts. I only wish I had video to share with you of that. When Alturo took the stage you never knew what to expect, but you knew it would be different and you would laugh to you had tears in your eyes. It is a shame we didn't have more time to work with him, but obviously someone above needed his talents for a much bigger performance.
Alturo Shelton Funeral arrangements are as follows:
OH PYE III Funeral Home Visitation will be Sunday September 27th, 2009 from 10:00am to 8:00pm
17600 Plymouth Road. Detroit, MI. 48227
313.838.9770
Church service will be at:
Greater Emmanuel Church Service begins at 10:00am
19161 Schaefer Hwy. Detorit, MI. 48235
313.864.7170
Please enjoy the Video Memory we would like to share with you.
If anyone would like to place comments or
fond memories of Alturo, we encourage you to
place them on our Guest Book page for everyone
to read and share"

Wheel Fest 2009 in the City of Wayne was explosive this year as a star packed Superstars show hit on Sunday. Tributes to the Legendary Jackie Wilson, The beautiful Faith Hill, the Solitary Man Neil Diamond, Elvis and closing the show, those Icons the Blues Brothers. The crowd flocked around the gazebo as Elvis tossed his scented scarfs, but Jake & Elwood tossed their own brand of humor in by throwing out rolled up scented tube socks already autographed. We could have given a couple hundred away said Ray Paschall aka (Elwood Blues) "One person wanted the one right off my foot" said Steve Baker aka (Joliet Jake) All entertainers were backed by the Radio City Band. City officials stated they had a larger crowd on Sunday then Saturday. Check out the photos page to see the action.

The Ionia County Historical Society packed the Ionia Theatre Sunday evening with the Ionia Gets Rocked by Vegas Show.
Linda Ciangi, ICHS president, said over 600 people attended the concert featuring The Blues Brothers, Elvis, Neil Diamond and Roy Orbison tribute artists, backed by The Radio City Band. While a final total has not been calculated, Ciangi said this is probably the biggest fundraiser yet for the historical society. She added she has received a lot of positive feedback about the show: both the variety and the quality. “It was a great day,” said Ciangi. “Everything we've gotten back has been positive.” [Ionia Sentinal Standard]
August 14, 2009 The quite tiny town of Ionia Michigan had some BIG entertainment blast into town this past Sunday. As the Historic Ionia theatre welcomed a Superstars show and filled some 700 seats this 92 degree day with anticipation like a child on Christmas morning. As the house lights went down the Superstars opener started to flood the room and spotlights circled, the Radio City band took the stage and the show opened with a tribute to Elvis. The crowd became ignited with the music and the performer but this was just the opener as Roy Orbison took command over the stage to hit all those notes and having guests standing in front of their seats with applause. Next up those guys always on a mission from God surprised everyone and came in from the back of the room as the Radio City Band pounded out the Peter Gunn Theme. The boys took the stage and tore it up leaving with a standing ovation. But as the house lights came down again and fog filled the stage with the beams of colored lights in the air like search lights, the Radio City Band starting playing coming to America and through the fog appeared the Solitary Man, Michigan's top Neil Diamond tribute performed by Mark Thomas all the way from Ontario. The show was a great treat for this tiny sleepy town, talks are already ongoing to produce several more shows at the Historic Ionia Theatre. Watch for photos and video on the website. [photos]

Well Las Vegas came to the Woodward Dream Cruise Friday night and exploded on the big stage in Berkley as the Salute to the Superstars and the Radio City Band had people dancin in the street and in there chairs. With tributes to Motown's greatest the Temptation's, Ray Charles & Aretha Franklin just made the crowd explode. Then Jake & Elwood hit the stage and you could hear the folks for blocks singing and cheering as this comical trio with their seasoned Blues Brothers Tribute performed, But what made all the magic come alive was the Salute to the Superstar Dance Team, as they have choreographed dances to all the tributes, but when Neil Diamond Closed the show and the Dancers hit the stage for Cherry Cherry they stole the show. Look for photos on photo tab and watch for new video. . [photos]
August 11, 2009 The third annual Superstars BBQ was a great time for everyone!
As seen in the pictures. it was a time for fun and camaraderie. God graced us with a beautiful Sunday afternoon and with a little spiritual help from others above watching down on us, who were not going to let anyone or anything rain on our parade! From the Cotton Candy to the corn dogs to the ice cold beer and burgers and fries everyone had plenty to eat and drink. Open Mic was available for everyone to sing and strut their stuff not in costume and to a group of family instead for guests. Oh my what will I come with next year to top this one Steve Baker said. July 29, 2009 Salute To The Superstars & Andiamo's in 2010
Salute to the Superstars is proud to announce a new joint partnership and home, with the Andiamo Showroom in Warren. It all started just down the avenue in the 1970's with the late Tom Furtney (Kenny Rogers tribute) and his showroom called Mr. F's Beef & Bourbon which became familiar with the large bull standing in front of the club. His shows were unrivaled in their professionalism and crowd appeal, sometimes waiting weeks for a dinner reservation and enjoyed by people from all over the Metro Detroit area and abroad at Mr. F's, stated son Rick Furtney,, it is heart warming to see the show coming back to the area. At a press release and photo shoot issued July 29th, 2009, with Owner Joe Vicari of Andiamo's, Steve Baker of Mr. B's Salute to the Superstars & Rick Furtney, son whose father started the Superstars shows, supports Baker and his staff. Steve continues to raise the bar and caliber of every show he produces says Furtney. There is no better place to call home than the Andiamo Showplace, Baker states, we are expecting allot of buzz around town about this partnership and the return of the Superstar shows that will begin in January 2010 and carried out through the year. we expect that same magic will happen here at Andiamo's as it did at Mr. F's.
Twelve shows have been lined up and some of those shows will be streamed live via the Internet to be seen by other states and countries. "Steve Baker and his staff have worked hard to surpass and bring the highest caliber and level of entertainment and music to produce a show that would have my dad proud Furtney said." "Owner Joe Vicari says it a natural fit with their fine food and good entertainment. Its a win win for everyone". Both Salute to the Superstars and Andiamo will be adding links to each others website for show details and tickets.

July 28, 2009 Orbison, Streisand and Dion to be saluted in July 24 show at Legion
LAPEER -- Already a dancer, when Sybil Vincent saw Funny Girl for the first time she added Barbra Streisand and singing to her list of interests.
Vincent, of Royal Oak, said she rushed right out and bought the Funny Girl album after seeing the movie."I kinda got started singing because of Barbra Streisand," she said. When she was 15 years old Vincent was singing along to the album at a house party."A lot of people told me that I sounded like Barbra Streisand," she said.A guy at the party offered to get her a gig at a local bar. She had to sneak in because she was so young, but once she started singing, she said "the room went crazy."

Salute to the Superstars is pleased to announce the addition of Tom Carroll performing his breath-taking tribute to the legendary Buddy Holly. Although Buddy has passed on, his music will never die (as immortalized by Don McLean’s song – “AMERICIAN PIE” - “The Day that Music Died”), referring to the day that Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper died in a plane crash. In fact, in 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Holly #13 among “The Fifty Greatest Artists of All Time”.
Tom also does an outstanding tribute to Neil Sedaka as well as his Buddy Holly. Tom has all the moves and mannerisms down just as you were watching a Buddy Holly Concert Live. We are fortunate to have such talented entertainers on our staff. Tom will have many upcoming shows, so keep your eyes on the shows page our our website and check out Tom Carroll's true tribute to the legendary Buddy Holly.

Well when Mother Nature will not cooperate, you have to have the Furtitude to improvise, which is exactly what we did as tribute artists Tim McGraw & Faith Hill hit the big stage in Fenton's Community Center instead of the park. We had a wonderful crowd of over 250 town folk that came to listen to this dynamic duo. The applause just kept rolling one song after another, as this duo took turns performing individually and mixing it up with duets. It’s always a pleasure returning to the City of Fenton. We will have the Blues Brothers and Neil Sedaka up in Linden at their Mill Pond Park on July 8th, 2009, yet another fantastic show coming soon!
June 25, 2009
Motown was alive and well in Brighton at the American Spirit Center as tributes to the the Temptations took the stage and had the place jammin, rockin and dancin to this fantastic tribute group, but it didn't stop there as the Jackie Wilson came out and took the crowd down the Motown Memory lane with songs like Higher & Higher, Lonely Teardrop's and many more. But the fun didn't stop there as those Icons the Blues Brothers hit the room and add some blues to the Motown twist with a visit from the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin in her Pink waitress outfit and apron and pink slippers to tell the boys she needs a little "Respect". After the Jake & Elwood finished the evening, Aretha came back to close the show and blew the roof off the joint. the whole night people were dancing on the dance floor or in there chairs. The show was incredible in delivery and performance said Glen Veno, club organizer, and we are looking forward to doing a show every other month. The folks at the Dearborn Heights Moose lodge did not know what to expect show night, but by the time the night was over plans are already underway to bring a Motown show there in September or October. The show with funny man Larry the Cable Guy who was the Master of Ceremony for the Evening and had the crowd in stitches all night. Neil Diamond rocked the room and did an outstanding performance, in fact was told by two guest he should go take over in Vegas. The Queen of Country, Miss Loretta Lynn hit the room by storm and everyone thought it was an excellent replacement for Carrie Underwood. Special Guest appearance by Willie Nelson put a nice addition to the nights venue. But it was the "Built for Tough Guy" Mr. Toby Keith who brought the house down with all of his great country music and people on their feet and clapping their hands to the song Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue. Club members expressed their happiness with the change of Toby for Kenny Rogers and Loretta Lynn for Carrie Underwood and could have sold more tickets had they been the original line up. All went extremely great and we have have several comments on our guest book already. Watch the show page for the next upcoming date.
Hot Hawthorne and Rat Pack debut! - May 29, 2009
The crowd was jumpin' and the band was rockin' at the Hawthorne Valley Country Club, as 341 guests filled the room for a scrumptious gourmet dinner fit for a king.
Following dinner, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin opened the show and hit the stage with the band to bring the house to their feet, with those great songs from the past. While Dean was singing, Frank rolled out the salad bar and mixed a couple of salads for him and Deano.
The Judd's came in for a dynamite song set with all the classics which left people in awe! Brenda Lee, in her poodle skirt and saddle shoes, looked great on stage. It was about that time, the King of Rock & Roll, Mr. Elvis Presley, hit the stage with a grand entrance complete with smoke and a laser light show. But the real surprise of the evening was when Frank & Dean sat down to do their last 3 songs, special guest appearance by Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. made the audience rise to their feet. Comments from the guests were that these 3 gents were better and more true to life than any other Rat Pack shows in the area. They will be back at Hawthorne Valley n July 31st, 2009 for just a Rat Pack Show. Tickets are on sale on our shows page and available at the Hawthorne box office.

The small town of Lapeer waited and gathered at the American Legion Hall 16 with the anticipation of the Man in Black to show up along with those crazy Blues Brothers. The stage was set and the man in black was introduced and came through the curtains spun his guitar around and said "Hello my name is Johnny Cash" and the crowd of 360 people applauded, whistled and roared. Philip Bauer's tribute to Johnny Cash is truly amazing From the looks, to the vocals, to stage presence, if the real Johnny Cash were here today, I'm sure he be surprised to find he has a twin brother. The second part of the evening was just as splashy as two large doors spun open to see s high speed chase developing right in front of the crowds eyes, as Jake & Elwood were being chased by a restored 1974 Dodge Monaco Police car. Folks were standing on their chairs to catch a glimpse of what was going on outside. The chase ended at the double doors as Jake & Elwood eluded the police once again and ran into the building. You know they were on this very important mission from God. The crowd came to their feet as these two came through the curtains to perform. Singing all the popular hits. As Jake & Elwood finished there last song Sweet Home Chicago, the Lapeer Country Sheriff was not letting these two sneak through the floor and appeared from behind the curtain with hand cuffs and escorted these two back to lock up to perform Jail House Rock. We want to thank the Lapeer County Sheriffs and the American Legion for the great work they do with "THE SHOP WITH A COP PROGRAM" and look forward to next year.

Las Vegas was alive and well in the small town of Harbor Beach, as Salute to the Superstars rolled in for the second annual Mothers Day show at the Community Theatre. As tributes to Roy Orbison had the audience applauding on his superb vocal skills to every high note that he sang. The Blues Brothers, a town favorite, opened their act from behind their famous chicken wire cage as showcased in the original movie at Bob's Country Bunker. Dave Zoran was the Master of Ceremony with his great vocal impersonations and took the audience by storm as he belted out several Frank Sinatra tunes that brought the crowd to their feet. The finishing act was none other than Elvis, as all the stage and house lights went dark and the stage filled with fog and multi-colored lights beaming through the movie screen that was down and all that appeared was a silhouette of the KING. As his intro proceeded the movie stage was lifted and the house lights came up, to bring the crowd applause to Michigan's number 1 Elvis tribute artist Fred Wolfe. As usual his high energy show brought the house down. We will be back in Harbor beach on October 3rd, 2009 with Cher, Shania Twain and Rod Stewart. check the shows page for more details.

Show number 3 in the final series at the American Legion Post in Lapeer was stellar. Which has prompted post officials to set up at least a series of 5 more shows for the 2009 calendar year. The room was was full of people who were looking for the tribute venue that hit the stage Friday night. Neil Sedaka got a warm welcome as he opened the show and immediately made a connection in with the crowd. As the stage filled with white smoke in front of the curtains and lights, people heard the intro 'Comming to America" and started pounding on the tables and whistling and through the curtains the Solitary Man" Neil Diamond Rocked the room and made his way through the guests singing to them and at one point dancing on top a table! With a second enchore to Sweet Caroline the dance floor was packed along with non other than "Jack Nicholson" in the middle of the mix. The stage billowed with smoke one more time as the music brought people to there attention, you would have thought you were at a 1968 Elvis concert with the guests screaming and yelling as the King of Rock and Roll shot out through the curtains and smoke, the crowd exploded and were thoroughly entertained for the final part of the evening. Thank you American Legion and folks in Lapeer!
March 30, 2009

The snow was blowing and it was cold up at the Fenton Moose, But when you add 'Changes in Latitudes'" it changes peoples attitudes! The first Fenton Parrott head kicked off inside as 3 to 6" of snow fell outside, but it didn't stop the guests from coming in with short sleeve Caribbean shirts, shorts and flip flops as the Jimmy Buffet tribute band "Changes in Latitudes had everyone on the dance floor for this 2 hour show. Beach ball's were being tossed around and another great dinner by chef Ted and his staff. If your looking for the best in a Jimmy Buffet tribute show you have to look no further than here. The Stars were out at Golden Hawk Golf Club for Valentines night and love was in the air. Golden Hawk served up a fantastic plated dinner and after dinner the show was opened by Gary George from Mark Ridleys Comedy Castle who was just hysterical and kept the crowd in stitches'! The awesome Radio City band vamped Rod "THE BOD" Stewart to the stage with Hot Legs and the show began. Following Rod was a surprise visit from the Blues Brothers and they were surprised as were the guests, when from across the room you heard in a very loud voice "ELWOOD" and Aretha Franklin came with her pink waitress uniform and pink slippers and told the boys they needed to show her a little Respect and the band kicked it off. After the Blues Brothers, celebrating 50 years of Motown the special guest appearance by the Legendary Jackie Wilson had the dance floor packed with his powerful vocals and great tunes. The Motown continued as Aretha Franklin came back in a beautiful black outfit and took the folks down the story of her life and blew the roof off Golden Hawk with that powerful voice, The Night closed as the stage got fogged and the beams of light crossed the stage as the Radio City Band started playing the song "Coming to America" and the Solitary man hit center stage and rocked the house with all the Neil Diamond classics. Also as a special surprise was at the closing, the Band Manager Tom Mulawka got a surprise as his son TJ made a guest appearance to take his father spot on the drums for Aretha & Jackie to sing "Aint no Mountain High Enough" That put the topper on the evening and TJ is quite the accomplished musician and defiantly has a home with Radio City and Salute to the Superstars! Thanks Golden Hawk and our fans and especially the ones from Dimitris who showed up for this fabulous event.

Hawthorne Valley Country Club in Westland was busting at the seams as the staff packed 300 guests and some standing room only guests as well. Guests were entertained by a star studded cast, But Neil Diamond and Roy Orbison brought the house down and the Radio City Band sound like a 16 piece big band for Frank Sinatra. Owners of the country club were pleased and prepared an excellent dinner for the guests. The next show will be on March 13th, 2009 and we will be extending future show series with the owners. Thank you Hawthorne & Staff for a job well done and thank you to all the guests! We will see you real soon.
February 9, 2009 It was a Star Studded cast at MacRay Harbor for the third annual Valentines show. MacRay served a choice of a scrumptious Prime Rib or Chicken Dinner. Following dinner the STARS hit the stage backed by the fabulous Radio City Band. Show Producer Steve Baker opened the show and informed everyone that tribute artist Barry Manilow was a no show and that the Legendary Jackie Wilson and Miss. West Bloomfield herself, Aretha Franklin were in the house and the crowd roared with approval. The King of Rock & Roll, Elvis opened the show and handed out beautiful red flowers to the ladies as did all the entertainers during the evening. Barbra Streisand & Aretha Franklin made the home run performance for the Divas as Jackie Wilson’s stellar Motown vocal and showman ship took center stage. The Solitary man Neil Diamond hit it out of the room with all the folks dancing and clapping, and Neil's table top dance for one group just brought the room to their feet. It was a GREAT show with great entertainers and management at MacRay were more than pleased with the show.

Salute to the Superstars for the 3rd year in a row rocked in New Years Eve to a full house at the Fenton Community Centers fourth annual Jubil'eve in downtown Fenton. Even as other activities' were going on throughout the downtown area, including our very own Fred Wolfe doing a tribute Elvis show at the St. Johns Activity Center, we remained standing room only, as Neil Sedaka blew through the crowd and astounded them with his tribute, followed by the amazing Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond. The Blues Brothers brought the house down as the curtains opened and they stood behind their Chicken Wire cage. Our Master of Ceremony Mr. Bob Hope kept the crowd going between entertainers with the Normal dry Bob Hope humor! Thank you to the City of Fenton, Southern Lakes Parks & Recreation and our show sponsor for another great year! See you in the summer for the park shows and back for 2010.

We are already planning for next year #16.

We have been a member of the MFEA - Michigan Festivals & Events Association for the past two years. This is an organization that works with all of the festivals and entertainment in the state of Michigan. Including the Michigan State Fair which is one of our partners.
We were notified of these prestigious awards on October 23rd, 2008 by phone, however it would not be official until the convention in November. However, in today's mail we received our certificates and ribbon awards.
We won First place in the state for our website created by Steve Greene from SG Creative, we won second place for BEST promotional poster for the Country Jam poster created by our own Toby Keith (Mike Evans) We also won second place for the BEST marketing brochure once again created by our own Toby Keith (Mike Evans).
The surprise came in the mail today to find another award we were unaware of, We were awarded "The Best of the Best Overall Achievement" award. You can view all the competition we faced by going to the MFEA website... we are at the top of the page then scroll down.
When I reflect over the last 3 years and what we have accomplished to be were we are today and those of you who believed in me and seen the different path I wanted this company to take and be the best, to which these awards have told us we must be doing something right. Don't get me wrong we had to break a few eggs to get the omelette we have today, but it comes from being truthful & honest but most of all the team work and the Furtitude we all have contributed as a family and a business of real Superstars!
Thanks Tom Furtney your legacy continues.

It shows that if you take pride in what you do and stay consistent you can achieve to be number one.
October 25, 2008 The Grand Opening of the Attic Bar was unlike anything Battle Creek has ever seen! Guests stood outside to watch the arrival to two black stretched limousines' arrive. As the first one pulled in and door opened to unvail a special visit by Jack Nicholson, the crowd exploded. Jack greeted the crowd in his usual manor and proceeded into the location. As the second long black limousine rolled up, out came Alan Alda (Hawkeye from MASH) dressed in his army fatigues, red robe and giant Martini glass. Appearing next Salute to the Superstars number 1 funny man Dave Zoran vocal impressionist and comedian. The guests in Battle Creek knew this was going to be a great night of entertainment. But wait! Just as the last Limousine rolled out you could hear sirens in the distance and sure enough screaming down Capital Avenue and roaring into the parking lot was the bluesmobile being chased by Battle Creeks finest. Jake & Elwood bolted from the car and cops and headed inside for a waiting sold out room of guests.
The show was fantastic and we would like to thank the owners of the Attic Bar and will see them again soon and the Battle Creek Police Department for their contribution to make this Grand opening one to remember, But most of all the guests that made the night magical.

Salute to the Superstars hosted its second annual entertainers BBQ Sunday August 31st, 2008 and was a Blast! Four buffet tables full of dips, chips, salads, deserts and enough food for an army. Entertainers and their spouses mingled and the children played in a giant bounce house and enjoyed a fresh dip in the pool to cool off after jumping.
Equipment was set up for open mic night for everyone to try something old and something new. It was also a night of surprises as a special Memorial show was disclosed in honor of the passing of Steve Baker's father. "This is a true extended family and a group that works as a team for team efforts" says Steve Baker. This special Memorial show was spear headed by Tribute Artist Merrie Gibson (Anne Murray) and Husband Bill. The coming together of these great entertainers locally and from Canada should show the strength of this family.
Just a few of the people in attendance for the BBQ were Barbra Streisand, Conway Twitty, Neil Diamond, Carrie Underwood, Neil Sedaka, Alan Alda, Tim McGraw and the son of the late Tom Furtney, Rick Furtney and his lovely wife Debbie and many more! Everyone is already looking forward to next years BBQ.
September 9, 2008
It was another fantastic weekend for the Richmond's 45th annual Good Old Days. Salute to the Superstars has been honored to be part of this for 3 years now and plans are already underway for next year. From Jake & Elwood being chased in the demolition derby pit with the bluesmobile by Richmond's finest to Sunday nights show. As the Radio City Band vamped the Temptations on stage to "My Girl" the crowd exploded with anticipation for the music from Motown.
The rest of the night was just as spectacular as the dance floor filled with music from Trisha Yearwood, Jackie Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Toby Keith and Richmond's icons the Blues Brothers. The crowd knew something was going to be different this year when they saw stage hands putting up the chicken wire panels on stage. Shortly after that the Radio City Band started playing the Peter Gunn theme and the crowd knew who was coming in the door next. Jake & Elwood hit the room with an explosive round of applause and high fives and proceeded to stage to take there place behind the caged chicken wire giving that look as they were back at Bob's Country Bunker.
It didn't take long before the beer cups, plastic beer pitchers and other debris started hitting the chicken wire and the Blues Brothers. It was like a scene right out of the movie. As they concluded their song set, police officers both from Richmond and the Macomb County Sherriff's office started encompassing around the stage to end up handcuffing the Blues Brothers and exiting them of stage! This was a great staged event! We look forward to being back next year! Thank you Richmond!
